The provincial cricket tournament system ensures high-level preparation of players for the national Proteas team.

Tournament Structure

The CSA 4-Day Franchise Series is the highest form of domestic cricket. Six provincial franchises compete in a format similar to international test matches.

One-Day Cup and T20 Challenge provide platforms for limited formats. SA20, the new franchise T20 league, has attracted international stars and significant investments.

Talent Development

Provincial tournaments serve as a breeding ground for the national team. Young players gain experience in high-level competition, preparing for international cricket.

Cricket South Africa's youth development and transformation programs aim to expand participation of Black and colored players. These efforts are gradually changing the demographics of South African cricket.
